It's week 9 and we are starting the second half of the season!
I must have gotten too much sun on vacation last week. My Thursday night pick went incredibly wrong. I gave the Bills too much confidence. I thought that their offense was better than the Jets secondary. It appears that that was not the case. Once Jets QB Josh McCown scored their first touchdown, they took control and never looked back. I hope to choose better for the rest of the games. The teams on a bye this week: Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, and Pittsburgh Steelers. I am sticking with the short and sweet picks, so let's go!
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS VS HOUSTON TEXANS:
Houston lost their starting rookie QB Deshaun Watson to an ACL tear during practice. Tom Savage is stepping back in. This does not change my pick for this game.
CINCINNATI BENGALS VS JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS:
The Jaguars have RB Leonard Fournette back. This will be a scrappy game.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS VS NEW ORLEANS SAINTS:
Brees vs. Winston. Elite experience will win here.
New Orleans Saints
LOS ANGELES RAMS VS NEW YORK GIANTS:
The Los Angeles Rams have not lost on the road yet this season. The New York Giants will not stop that streak.
Los Angeles Rams
ATLANTA FALCONS VS CAROLINA PANTHERS:
E-knee, me-knee, my-knee, MO! Panthers defense should be great against a Falcons offense that is trying to find itself this season.
DENVER BRONCOS VS PHILADELPHIA EAGLES:
Denver has given the QB starting role to Brock Osweiler. Deja vu, huh? Again, this will not effect my choice here.
BALTIMORE RAVENS VS TENNESSEE TITANS:
Baltimore has been known for their defense. Defense is what is going to get them through this game today, especially against a Tennessee offense that barely beat Cleveland.
ARIZONA CARDINALS VS SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS:
Both teams are starting with backup/new QBs. Arizona with Drew Stanton, in for the injured Carson Palmer, and San Fran with Jimmy Garoppolo, recently acquired from New England. The later move will not bring a win to the Niners this week. Feed the beast (RB Adrian Peterson) in Arizona.
WASHINGTON REDSKINS VS SEATTLE SEAHAWKS:
The Seahawks have found their rhythm on this four game winning streak. The Redskins are rhythmless on defense. Seattle will be singing that McFadden & Whithead disco tune "Ain't No Stopping Us Now".
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS VS DALLAS COWBOYS:
It's like a soap opera with this Ezekiel Elliott case! Looks like he'll play against the Chiefs. Even with him, the Chiefs will have to battle, but will come out on top.
Kansas City Chiefs
OAKLAND RAIDERS VS MIAMI DOLPHINS:
Soooo.........Matt Moore was so awful for Miami last Thursday night in a shutout by Baltimore that Jay Cutler is going to start despite sore (cracked) ribs. Recipe for further disaster. Raiders QB Derek Carr and company should take full advantage here.
That is how I see it this week. I tried to pick opposite of my instincts, but some of the choices that were made just made sense, right? LOL! Once again, we will see how the games turn out. Good luck to your teams and picks!
