You know it has been a long short work week when I am doing my picks the morning of. I know most of us are waiting to see the shoot out between Kansas City and New England. I tweaked my ankle a bit running from four dogs while trying to make a delivery, so I will be laid up watching all the games today! WOO HOO!! Last week was the worst week, but that is not discouraging me from making my picks again this week. This is going to be straight forward this week. I am trying to get them in before the games start. I already started off the week with a loss because Eli cannot get in sync with the team and Sequon cannot do it all by himself. GRRR!!! Detroit and New Orleans have byes this week. This is the quick version of what I think for today’s games.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS vs ATLANTA FALCONS:
Jameis Winston is starting his first game back. There is no doubt he has something to prove. Atlanta needs a confidence booster type of game. Going against my gut here.
CAROLINA PANTHERS vs WASHINGTON REDSKINS:
Carolina seems to be on a roll. They are also getting Greg Olsen back this week. It is games like these when Washington steps up, but they have quite a few injuries to key players.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS vs OAKLAND RAIDERS:
As shaky as Seattle has been, they are coming together more and more each week. Oakland has an awful run defense, so if Seattle can exploit it, they can get a win.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS vs NEW YORK JETS:
The Jets last week made folks believe that Gang Green could be contenders. All bets that they are cold again this week. Indianapolis will make it scary close, but come out on top.
ARIZONA CARDINALS vs MINNESOTA VIKINGS:
That Minnesota Vikings defense is suspect. Now, they do not have Everson Griffen. Hmmm… Arizona looked good against a depleted San Fran team last week, but can the rookie, Josh Rosen, compete with Kirk Cousins?
PITTSBURGH STEELERS vs CINCINNATI BENGALS:
That routing of the Atlanta Falcons last week gave the Pittsburgh Steelers a much needed boost, but will it outlast the resilience of the Cincinnati Bengals this week? The AFC North is a tough division. This is a toss up. Another game going against my gut again.
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS vs CLEVELAND BROWNS:
Talk about another exciting game to watch today! This may be the most entertaining. If the Chargers stick to the game plan, they can get this. Although Baker Mayfield has the offense going, it will be the defense that will determine this one. It’ll come down to the last seconds.
Los Angeles Chargers
BUFFALO BILLS vs HOUSTON TEXANS:
Buffalo only appears to play their best football when competing with top teams. In this case, the competition is not all that great. Houston is getting their defense back on track which will cause problems for Buffalo’s rookie QB, Josh Allen.
CHICAGO BEARS vs MIAMI DOLPHINS:
Well rested and on a tear, the Chicago Bears are back in Week 6. Miami is starting to play tougher teams on their schedule and it is not boding well for the early hot team.
LOS ANGELES RAMS vs DENVER BRONCOS:
Do the Rams stay one of only two undefeated teams in the league this week? They should. Denver will keep it close, but in the end, the Rams will get the win like they did against Seattle last week.
Los Angeles Rams
BALTIMORE RAVENS vs TENNESSEE TITANS:
Geez! It is hard to predict which one of these teams will show up on any given Sunday. Tennessee has managed to eke out wins when it did not seem possible. This game will definitely come down to defense. If that is the scenario, Flacco and company get the W.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS vs DALLAS COWBOYS:
Which Blake Bortles will show up to run the offense this week? The Jags defense is not going to be their biggest question. If they can make Dak Prescott throw, they could be in business. Dallas has been getting it together of late. Upset pick, right here.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS vs NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS:
Kansas City is the only other undefeated team next to the Los Angeles Rams. Will KC be the ones to get their first loss of the season? Some times youth and something new get things done to let the old regime know that it is over. Some times experience and age let the new regime know that it is not their time yet. It will be the latter in this case.
New England Patriots
This is my quick version of picks for the week. I do not support a lot of causes openly, but please remember that this month is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Domestic Violence Awareness month. If you are personally effected or feel that these causes are close to your heart, reach out to your local or national organizations to lend your support. Good luck to your teams and picks!
