We’ve made it to Week 8! This Sunday will start with the last of the games played in London. That game will have the Eagles facing off against the Jaguars. I am sure most folks had Houston winning Thursday night, but not quite that big, huh? The downward spiral is coming fast for Miami. There are a few games this week that will be something to watch. I’ll get into those as you read on. The Falcons, Cowboys, Chargers, and Titans have a bye this week. Let’s see what the other teams have in store.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES vs JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS:
Neither one of these teams are what was expected for the season. The Eagles seem to be struggling with Carson Wentz back in the picture. The Jaguars are struggling without Leonard Fournette on the field. Both teams need a win, but only one can get it. Philly let Carolina get the best of them last week. This week, the Eagles should be able to easily take advantage of the Jags. Blake Bortles has not been the same without Fournette on the field. The once touted on defense does not seem as impenetrable as last year. Not sure if this will put Philly back on track, but it will give them a much needed W.
DENVER BRONCOS vs KANSAS CITY CHIEFS:
Not that a backup QB change would effect this week’s game much, but the Broncos now have Kevin Hogan as QB2. With Chad Kelly being cut for his conduct off the field, the team has made some slight changes. Again, not much of an impact at the moment, but worth mentioning. This is the second matchup with the Chiefs. The Chiefs won that by the hairs of their chinny chin-chin. There have been no significant changes to either team, so expect the same type of game.
Kansas City Chiefs
CLEVELAND BROWNS vs PITTSBURGH STEELERS:
The first tie of the season went to these two teams. The only difference is that Pittsburgh has seem to found its stride. What does this mean for Cleveland? Not much since they have been on the losing side of some extremely close games. If it comes down to the wire again, the Browns defense will not be able to keep up. This is the Steelers team everyone should have seen weeks ago.
WASHINGTON REDSKINS vs NEW YORK GIANTS:
Which of these two teams is more frustrating to pick week to week? These are the types of games that the Giants seem to win and the Redskins seem to lose. The Redskins defense is going to have to work a lot to contain Sequon Barkley and Odell Beckham, Jr. At the same time, just because the Redskins have not turned the ball over, does not make them unstoppable on offense. Yes, Washington is sitting on the top of the division. Yes, the division looks awful. But who will get Washington off their game? Themselves. Eli Manning and company know how to win against Washington.
New York Giants
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS vs DETROIT LIONS:
Detroit is an unpredictable team as well. As sloppy as Seattle has looked, they will have no problem getting past Detroit. Last week against Miami, Detroit looked like a superstar team. This week they will be facing one of the best pass defenses in the league. Matthew Stafford does not have the wherewithal that Russell Wilson has to get his squad the win.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS vs CINCINNATI BENGALS:
Tampa Bay finds a way. Cincinnati cannot seem to play up to the competition. So who does one choose? If Jameis Winston makes the mistakes he always makes and the Bengals can capitalize on them, guess who walks away victorious? Yeah, it sounds good until the game goes to the wire and a last second score is needed. Either way, Tampa Bay will have to make some serious decisions come this off season. What they have is not getting the job done.
NEW YORK JETS vs CHICAGO BEARS:
Chicago is going to rely heavily on their defense for this one. With or without Khalil Mack, the Bears should be able to handle the likes of Sam Darnold and friends. When the Jets have won, they have won big. They will not be able to put a significant amount of points on the board to keep the Bears at bay.
BALTIMORE RAVENS vs CAROLINA PANTHERS:
It’s almost like the Panthers have to have their backs against the wall to get a win. Last quarter comebacks and last second scores have kept them on the winning side of things the past few weeks. Can it happen again playing Baltimore? Of course, it can! Despite an elite defense, the Ravens have a difficult time putting points up. If the Ravens defense can rattle Cam and keep him off his game, they can come away with a close one. Carolina’s luck will run out.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS vs OAKLAND RAIDERS:
An Oakland win would not be impossible here, but unlikely. Oakland just traded away another great player in Amari Cooper to Dallas. Maybe this is the plan. Jon Gruden has a 10 year contract. Is it possible that he wants to rebuild the team his way? Ok, that’s a topic for another blog. Today, it is just a pick for the game. Andrew Luck is looking more himself and the Colts really are not as bad as their record. Let the Raiders go on their quest for the most first round picks ever in a draft next year.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs ARIZONA CARDINALS:
What are the odds of have these two 1-6 teams end up with a tie in this game? LOL! Ok. Matt Breida appears to be the man of the hour for the Niners. David Johnson is not the man for the Cardinals. With the poor play of both teams QBs, it will come down to other positions. With that being the case, the visitors have the edge.

GREEN BAY PACKERS vs LOS ANGELES RAMS:
The Rams are undefeated. The Packers are coming off of a bye week. This is could be a close game because of the tenacity of Aaron Rodgers to keep the team in the game or it could be a blow out because of the weak defense of Green Bay. Let’s hope it is the former so the game will be exciting. With a group like the Rams, there is no way to find a weakness for the Packers to exploit with the squad they have. It would be wonderful for Green Bay to hand Los Angeles their first loss, but it will not happen this week.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS vs MINNESOTA VIKINGS:
If the Saints defense cannot keep up with Cousins, Diggs, and Thielen, then it might be a long day for them. Same thing holds true for the Vikings defense against Brees, Kamara, and Thomas. If both defenses fall short and it comes down to a shoot out, then Brees and the boys will take it. Brees does not have a problem extending the play and that will be a key factor in their game. There will be more of both defenses not playing well. Look for a lot of offense.

The picks for me were a little hard to make. Hopefully, I make some good ones. How are you guys doing out there with your picks? Everyone watch some good football. Good luck with your team and picks!
