It seems that I cannot get past picking any better than 10-6 every week. Grrr! Let’s see if I can get over that hump this week. No Thursday night game, but we have two games today for your viewing pleasure. Every team playing today needs a win for either getting into the playoffs or positioning within the playoffs. Hope your team gets what they want for Christmas. Here goes what I think.
WASHINGTON REDSKINS vs TENNESSEE TITANS:
Washington’s biggest asset is their defense. Whether it is stopping the run or causing turnovers, the best thing they have going on the field is defense. Josh Johnson at quarterback is not the worst situation to have, but it does make it a challenge on offense when going up against a pretty solid Tennessee defense. Of course, this also means attention needs to be given to the Titans offense. Derrick Henry has been hot as of late. The Redskins’ defense is going to have to contain him in order to keep the Titans from marching into the end zone. In turn, Adrian Foster is going to need more than a few runs along with Josh Doctson receiving down field. Marcus Mariota is doing a magnificent job of keeping his team in the game and making plays. Tennessee is looking to stay in the hunt with a win here. With Dallas losing last week, Washington is looking to do the same thing only with a little more help from some of the other teams.
BALTIMORE RAVENS vs LOS ANGELES CHARGERS:
If no one noticed, the Los Angeles Chargers are for real. Not sure what else they have to do outside of winning a Super Bowl to prove their worth. On the road from the east coast, Baltimore will struggle a bit. Lamar Jackson is leading the charge, but he makes mistakes that cause the offense trouble and the defense to work harder. This leaves plenty of opportunities for the Chargers to take advantage of. They have the most well-rounded team of the two led by one of the best quarterbacks in the league. The Chargers are looking to possibly take the division lead and a first round bye with home field advantage. It could happen. All of that depends on the Kansas City Chiefs. Baltimore is second wild card team behind Los Angeles. It is possible for them to get one step closer clinching a playoff of spot if they win here and a couple of other teams lose. This game has to potential to be great one in the race for the post season.
Los Angeles Chargers
Those would be my Saturday picks. Hope this starts the week off with a bang for me. Is your team in the hunt? Has your team already clinched a spot? Is your team playing spoiler this week? I would love to hear about it. Happy holidays to everyone! Good luck to your teams and picks!
