WEEK 16 MNF: DENVER BRONCOS vs OAKLAND RAIDERS

HO! HO! WHOA! Some of those games were awesome yesterday! Getting into the post season is serious business. There were a few games that changed the scheme of things, but there is always next week. One more week and spots will be solidified. Put on your lucky hat or whatever ritual you have to will your team to a win. Tonight is not going to be a popular game, but Denver could use the win. Here is my Monday night selection.

DENVER BRONCOS vs OAKLAND RAIDERS:

This should really be a quick pick, but let’s try to put a little substance behind it. Denver has a great defense. Case Keenum is also better equipped than Derek Carr to come out with a victory. It is not that Oakland has not had flashes of brilliance. It just that those flashes are flashes. The Oakland Project needs plenty of work to say the least. Denver woulda, coulda, shoulda. They are not contending for a playoff spot. They managed a block of wins late. They need a few pieces to put everything together again for next season. Next season. Yeah, that is what both of these teams are looking toward in a couple of weeks.

Denver Broncos

That concludes the week for me. Did your team get gifts or coal? Just a reminder that everyone is not happy around the holidays, so reach out and spend time with those who seem down. Good luck to your teams and picks. Happy holidays to all my followers. ‘Tis the season!

WEEK 15 MNF: NEW ORLEANS SAINTS vs CAROLINA PANTHERS

Here we are at the Carolina game. Rest assured there are no playoff implications here for the Panthers except trying to sabotage New Orleans chances at a first round bye. Carolina has a great home record, but at this point, it does not mean a thing. Here is what I think about the game under the lights tonight.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS vs CAROLINA PANTHERS:

As mentioned above, New Orleans is trying to get that first round bye by securing a win here in Carolina. Carolina, on the other hand, is crumbling before everyone. Drew Brees and company will not find it hard to take advantage of Cam Newton’s mistakes. This is not to say that the Panthers will not be in the game. They just will not be able to finish the Saints off like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers failed to do last week. The Saints have had their struggles the past couple of weeks, but will surely use a win over Carolina to boost morale. Carolina is far removed from the team that went to the Super Bowl in 2015. The Panthers could play spoiler here, but will not.

New Orleans Saints

That is how I am finishing out the week. Certainly there was an exciting game or two this weekend, especially that Saturday Cleveland Browns/Denver Broncos game. Let me know what you think. Good luck to your teams and picks!

WEEK 14 MNF: MINNESOTA VIKINGS vs SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Let’s not even talk about yesterday’s games. A lot of teams should be still walking home, I know that. Almost every game was close. Was Oakland the biggest surprise win or was it Carolina losing yet again? A couple of teams have secured their slots for the post season. Was one of them yours? Tonight, these two squads are hoping to move on as well. This is my insight on how I see the last game of the week.

rangers-snow-552554.jpg

MINNESOTA VIKINGS vs SEATTLE SEAHAWKS:

If any two teams needed a win this week, it would definitely be either one of these teams tonight. The Vikings cannot seem to stay consistent. They let the Patriots get the best of them last week. It could be that their offense has been figured out. Unfortunately, the VIkes defense is not quite what it used to be and is letting teams hang around too long. Seattle is keeping their heads above water. With a not so great defense to speak of and an offense depending on Russell Wilson too much, the Seahawks are still trying to extend their season. The difference between the two teams is that the ‘Hawks thrive in adverse situations. Minnesota has not fared well in those types of games. Injuries are plaguing the Vikings as well. Although the game should be a good one to watch, it will ultimately been won by the team that knows how to deal with being in a desperate situation.

Seattle Seahawks

This is my last best guess for the week. How did you do? Football gets so exciting at this time of the year. The weather changes. Each game becomes a WIN situation. Absolutely the best time of year. Good luck to your teams and picks!

WEEK 13 MNF: WASHINGTON REDSKINS vs PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

I throw my hands up! Those games yesterday were unbelievable. Carolina…again! Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Chicago, and Green Bay just killed me! On top of that, they fired Mike McCarthy. I hope this brings the change we’re looking for at Lambeau. Nothing amazes me week to week. This is why we watch the game. Here is the last game of the week. A divisional battle between the Redskins and Eagles. Cross your fingers I can get this one right.

WASHINGTON REDSKINS vs PHILADELPHIA EAGLES:

The fact that Colt McCoy is starting for the Redskins brings a challenging dynamic for the team. Where Alex Smith protected the ball, Colt McCoy does not. In order for any offense to work, especially Washington’s, turnovers need to be kept to a bare minimum. On the road, this will be an undertaking. Carson Wentz is fairing a bit better and has the wherewithal to carry his team like he did last week. The Eagles are not screaming success right now, but the defense will be able to have their way with the Redskins. If that is the case, Wentz will be able to make it happen on offense. Both teams need the win, so look for a hard fought game under the lights.

Philadelphia Eagles

That is it folks! Hope you finished the week better than I did. The final weeks are upon us. The games are even more meaningful now. Good luck to your teams and picks!

WEEK 12 MNF: TENNESSEE TITANS vs HOUSTON TEXANS

This will be an interesting Monday night game. Only because you never know which Titans team will show up. Tennessee still has a chance for the post-season, but it will depend on whether or not they can get past the super hot Houston Texans. Here is what I think.

Football-Isolated-On-Field-Grass-Spotlight-Shadow.jpg

TENNESSEE TITANS vs HOUSTON TEXANS:

Tennessee has a few things hindering them tonight. The biggest being Marcus Mariota’s injured elbow. If he cannot finish the game, this leads to their second hinderance, Blaine Gabbert. IF this is the Titans team that rolled over New England a couple of weeks ago, this will surely be a battle. If not the super hot Houston Texans will steamroll right over them. Houston has won seven straight. Firing on all cylinders is an understatement at this point for the Texans. There does not seem to be a place on the field that the Texans are lacking in at this point. If there is a spot, J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney are covering it. Tennessee will have to play a flawless and smart game to get up on Houston.

HOUSTON TEXANS

How did everyone do with their picks this week? I will have to admit this was another one of those crazy weeks. Hope everyone watched some great football. Good luck to your teams and picks!

WEEK 11 MNF: KANSAS CITY CHIEFS vs LOS ANGELES RAMS

I am not sure if I have ever seen a week when so many games were won by three points or less. With all of those close games, you just had to know that there would be upsets or near losses. I am very afraid to tally up for the week. Let’s talk about tonight’s game for a minute. So, this game was supposed to be played in Mexico. The field conditions were awful. The NFL moved the game to Los Angeles. Ok, no big deal, right? Except what about the fans? I believe they are getting reimbursed for tickets. They are not getting refunded for travel. Season ticketholders could claim their seats and four more before the general public was able to buy them last Wednesday. On top of that, complimentary tickets were made available to first responders and victims of the wildfires in California. Since both teams were training/practicing in Denver, Colorado, they asked to play the game there. The NFL rejected their request. So, off to L.A. they go. Whew! Now, I can get into the game.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS vs LOS ANGELES RAMS:

Both teams have a loss. One to the New England Patriots. The other to the New Orleans Saints. Quality losses, if you can call losses quality. Both teams have high octane offenses. Since that is a known fact, it will surely come to defense. The Kansas City defense is ranked 20th in the league. Not good when you are going up against an offense that almost mirrors yours in Los Angeles. The Rams often get out to a slow start. This will allow a shoot out for a majority of the game. The Rams defense, with Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh, will put a stop to things later in the game with pressure on Patrick Mahomes that the Chiefs offensive line will not be able to handle. Football fans are looking forward to an explosive game. No better game for a Monday night under the lights.

Los Angeles Rams

My best guess has been given! Cannot wait to see how it turns out. What do you all think? Good luck to your teams and picks!

WEEK 10 MNF: NEW YORK GIANTS vs SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Looks like Monday nights have turned into the most uninteresting game nights of the week. The 49ers will make it somewhat watchable with their new starting quarterback, Nick Mullens. This could be a repeat of last week’s Thursday night game the 49ers had against the Raiders. The Giants are a bit more talented with Barkley and Beckham, Jr., so there is something to look at there. Alright, here is what I think…

vintage-football-leather-shoulder-pads.jpg

NEW YORK GIANTS vs SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS:

SWEET BABY LOMBARDI!! What is going on in New York?! They have one of the most explosive rookie running backs and veteran wide receivers in the league, yet they are 1-7. Eli Manning is truly looking like a deer in headlights. There is a disconnect between Manning and the rest of the team it appears. In most of these games, it looks like the Giants are putting up a fight, but when they see a win is not possible, they shut down. To make matters worse, they trade Eli Apple and Damon Harrison away. GRRR!!! The 49ers have been in games, but cannot finish. There may be a flicker of hope with their new starting quarterback. Nick Mullens has made quite the impression with his debut against the Oakland Raiders last week. He is making things happen with Matt Breida and Pierre Garcon. Kyle Shanahan is a plus on the sidelines as well. Certainly this is not going to much of a choice to be made. The Niners boast a better offense and defense.

San Francisco 49ers

Finished for the week! Hopefully, you all had a great football week. I cannot wait to see how I did. Check me out on Thursday for the results. Good luck to your teams and picks!

WEEK 9 MNF: TENNESSEE TITANS vs DALLAS COWBOYS

A couple of those Sunday games did not go as I expected. Just a couple though. LOL! Now, it is Monday night and, just like Thursday night, the two teams playing will not excite you. But, hey, stranger things have happened. I think it is more difficult to pick between two “not so great” teams than it is for any other match ups. The game still needs to be played. I will watch because it is football and it is on. Here is my take…

th3FVX31MR.jpg

TENNESSEE TITANS vs DALLAS COWBOYS:

Neither of these teams has quite the promise they once had at the beginning of the season. Starting the second half of the season, they do not look any more promising. The Titans are struggling on both sides of the ball. RB Derrick Henry has been on the trading block in favor of Dion Lewis. The Titan defense is nothing to speak of outside safeties Logan Ryan and Adoree Jackson. What do the Cowboys have to counter that? Dallas acquired WR Amari Cooper from the Oakland Raiders. He does not allow the offense to spread out, which will be a problem in press coverage. There is no clear way to use their new “weapon” in the offense scheme of things. Cole Beasley will still be their best option. What Dallas does have going for them is defense. If the offense can contain the mediocre play of the Titans offense, this will allow for Dak Prescott to make things happen on offense. With this edge, the home team should be able to take this one.

Dallas Cowboys

How do you like my last pick of the week? Hope you all are enjoying the fall weather and watching great football. Let me know what you think. Good luck to your teams and picks!
